My name is Kristine Shimmin
I’m the owner/operator of this sole proprietorship Pleasanton business. Heavenly Bites offers Custom Cakes and Dreyer’s Ice Cream featuring FlavorBurst™.
I started Heavenly Bites in 2009 as a part-time company selling cookies, FlavorBurst frozen yogurts, and other goodies at the short-lived Stoneridge Mall Farmer’s Market. Though the market only stayed in business for a few months, I was able to build a nice client base and decided to continue my business; but instead of baking and hauling my wares to set up at a farmer’s market table, I would take orders and offer delivery directly to my customers.
After being in business for about six months, I decided to play around making photo cakes. I ordered a special printer for making edible photos and made my first cake. This was for my daughter’s college graduation. I took several pictures and arranged them into a collage and trimmed the cake with some edible buttons since Alaina was graduating with a fashion degree. The cake was a huge hit at her party. Shortly after the event, my family and friends started asking me to make photo cakes and I was now officially baking cakes.
There is something addictive about cake designing and decorating. Once I started decorating cakes I was hooked. I learned everything I could from books, magazines, U-tube and TV baking shows. I took a few private classes from Baking Arts in San Francisco and took a 5 week certified course at the The Culinary Institute in Campbell. I even took a 3 day intense course from the well known TV celebrity Kaysie Lackey of the Food Network. She taught the class how to make Higgins, a realistic butler cake.
I still hungered to learn even more, but as a business owner and operator, I couldn’t enroll in a pastry school full time because I wouldn’t be able to keep up with my customer orders. I found the perfect solution; work privately with a very talented chef who would mentor me, and teach me everything I needed to know to take my baking and decorating skills to the next level. I hooked up with Tarra Marie Keesee, executive Pastry Chef/Owner of Insatiable Desserts and she’s been teaching me on a regular basis for several months now. I’m like a sponge, soaking up anything I can from Tarra and having the best time ever doing so. Even now, I’m still working closely with Chef Tarra and look forward to showing my customers my culinary skills and creativity.

Just me! Kristine Shimmin. I personally take care of ALL my customers. I am NSF Certified; Certified in Royal Icing & Fondant from The Culinary Institute, licensed as a business with the City of Pleasanton; and also a fully a licensed caterer with the Alameda County Department of Environmental Health. Food safety is my highest priority.
Scratch Bakery
Everything is made from scratch specifically for your order. Please give me a 7 day notice for your cake order, but if I’m available, I will try and accommodate rush orders when possible. I give each cake my undivided attention so I limit my cake orders to 8 per week. Because of this, it’s recommended to order far in advance if you want to lock in a date for your cake.
Pricing
Every cake is unique, each using special ingredients and requiring different amounts of labor. For this reason, I cannot offer a “price” without knowing the exact details of your cake. As a general guideline, cakes start at about $50 and run approximately $3.50 per serving for basic cakes with butter cream filling and frosting, around $4.50 per serving for fondant covered cakes.

Let me know what your party theme is, who the cake if for and anything possible about the party and I will work with you to come up with a great design to fit your special occasion and your budget.
Contacting Me
E-mail is the best way to correspond with me as during the day I’m busy baking and typically I’m available to answer questions and work on designs in the evenings. Every effort is made to get you some designs and quotes within 24 hours of your request. A typical ordering process involves several e-mails back and forth, I’m not done designing until YOU are excited about your cake.
Ordering
Once your design is finalized, I will send you a written order confirmation and collect a deposit with the balance due on pickup/delivery day.
Delivery/Pickup
Heavenly Bites is happy to deliver your cake and/or Ice Cream to you for a nominal delivery fee, based on the distance/time involved with the delivery. Cake/Ice Cream/Kettle Korn pickups are scheduled for your convenience, 7 days a week including evenings.
